WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Head Football Coach
Dan Cocannouer addressed media, fans and supporters of the SWOSU Football program in the Legacy Bank Media Room on Wednesday afternoon to announce the addition of 36 student-athletes to the Bulldog team. Included in the group are 31 high school seniors and five transfer students, four of which are already on campus for spring practice.

"Overall, I think we had a great recruiting class," Cocannouer said. "Every year, they keep getting better and better and my hats off to my coaching staff for the job they've done evaluating and recruiting these kids that we've brought in to represent our program. We had some things that we felt like we needed to address and these guys put in the hours making recruiting trips and going above and beyond to improve our football team."
In total, the Bulldogs signed players from five different states, including a large number with 18 in-state prospects headed for Weatherford. SWOSU added 15 players from Texas with one each from California, Florida and Minnesota. There was a fairly even split on offense and defense, with 16 offensive signees and 20 for defense, with eight each at wide receiver and defensive back.
SWOSU Football is coming off a banner season that saw the Bulldogs win their final six regular season games to advance to the Live United Texarkana Bowl, their first postseason appearance since moving to NCAA Division II in the mid-1990's. SWOSU finished the season 8-4 under the direction of Cocannouer, a SWOSU alum who was named both the Great American Conference and AFCA Region Coach of the Year.
"We're very excited about this program moving forward," Cocannouer said. "We aren't satisfied with the way our season ended last season and we're looking forward to the next step. It's going to be a great year to be a Bulldog!"
Cocannouer will likely announce the Bulldogs spring practice schedule in the coming weeks and the 2016 schedule will be released later in the spring as well. SWOSU will play six home games during the 2016 season after finishing a perfect 5-0 at ASAP Energy Field last fall.
